Kate McDermott, PT, DPT

Kate is an Orthopedic Residency trained Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified GYROTONIC® trainer. She holds a Bachelors of Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Simmons University in Boston, MA. She is a graduate of Evidence In Motion’s Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency program. She has been practicing as a fully-licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy since 2013. She has been teaching The GYROTONIC Method since 2008.

Kate has worked in a wide variety of clinical settings throughout her professional career. She is currently most focused on sports and orthopedics. However, she also has a passion and skillset for treating the neurologic population especially those with spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury. She has treated some of the highest functioning athletes in the world as well as some of the most impaired people in the community.

She is a long standing member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and has mentored numerous Doctor of Physical Therapy students over the years as a certified clinical instructor. She has presented at conferences such as the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professional Conference in 2016 and the 2025 GYROTONIC Rehabilitation Conference. She is an International Para Alpine Ski & Snowboard Medical Classifier with the International Ski Federation (FIS). She founded Inside Edge Physical Therapy & Movement in 2023.

She is devoted to providing quality of care and is passionate about the rehabilitation benefits of The GYROTONIC method. She has trained in numerous treatment techniques such as Functional Dry Needling, Craniosacral Therapy, Blood Flow Restriction Training, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization and many others. She seeks out education where ever she can with the motivation to be the best provider possible for her patients. Kate likes to play hard and some of the greatest lessons she has learned are through her own unfortunate injuries. She aims to treat every patient with as much kindness, skill and attention as she would want her own family member or friend to be treated.
